We love our photo bags almost as much as the cameras tucked safely inside. This week I chat with Suzanne Caballero, who is a camera bag expert. She works for Lowepro; they've been designing great bags for over 30 years.
During our conversation, Suzanne shared a few stories about famous photographers she's met through her work as Marketing Communications Manager. First she talked about Greg Gorman, who is a well known portrait shooter with a wonderful studio in Northern California. Suzanne also talked about Seth Resnick, a legend too, who is doing much to promote digital photography across the world. She even chats about her first photo expedition to Death Valley with John Isaac. Great stuff!
I asked Suzanne for some staff recommendations for Lowepro bags. Here are a few she thought you'd be interested in:
- The Stealth Reporter AW Digital Series that Seth Resnick helped design.
- The Classic Rolling Bags that Greg Gorman uses.
- And her personal favorite, the SlingShot 200 AW.
And finally, here's the link to first story and the second story she told about Lowepro bags saving more than just camera gear.

I loved the podcast, especially because I recently purchased three bags, all Lowepro, to get started on my Digital A/V hobby.
My main bag that I use to take on shoots or events is the Off Road. This bag allows me to take my DSLR and an attached lens along with 3 other lenses. It's a hipbag/shoulder bag and it's wonderful. If I do not need the extra lenses I can remove sections to get the bag down in size. VERY nice bag!
I own the Computrekker AW to carry all of my Digital AV gear and Tripod. I have my DSLR, 4 Lenses, DV Cam, External Mic, Laptop, and plenty of accessories in there. I use this bag for transporting my gear to and from places. I do not use this to take with me on photo shoots/events.
I also own the Edit 140, a small bag that's able to carry my SLR and a lens w/ extra batteries. Or I use it for my DV Cam and external mic w/ extra batteries/tapes. Typically I give this bag with the DV Cam and a Point and Shoot to my GF/family member to use while I'm taking pictures with my DSLR.

Thanks, I was looking for a new bag and have looked at the three recommended above. I think that the slingshot appears to be the best for me, easy access to the lenses will make life a lot easier, I'm forever leaving my bag on the ground and then running back to it. I guess that the biggest selling point as far as I'm concerned is that the bag spins around which allows multiple access, now who thought of that. Also, I'll now have to ditch my old one and go through all of the rubbish that has accumulated over the years!
