Caption: Mesa Verde Cliff Palace. The cliff palace at Mesa Verde was lighted during the celebration of the park's centennial. This was a heavily photographed event, since the park service rarely lights the ruins at night and it is rumored that this is the last time they will do it. I knew the lighting would be interesting but, did not realize I would be shooting with dozens of photographers, 100+ all with tripods. This severely limited my ability to choose shooting angles. I used the widest focal length to get the entire lighted area while getting part of the sky.
